The May dinner meeting for the Florida West Coast Employee Benefits Council will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Our speaker is Paul R. Staples, Vice President, Summit Strategies Group. Paul's topic will be "Realistic Approaches For Helping Participants Manage Their Retirement Assets." Paul will discuss the changing role of DC plans, whether the 401(k) structure is "broken", what is changing with regard to current best thinking, and more. About our Speaker
Paul leads the defined contribution service team at Summit. This team is responsible for consulting to Summit's 22 defined contribution clients, representing approximately $20 billion in combined assets. Paul advises clients on proper defined contribution plan design, emerging trends in the marketplace, how to prepare for increasing regulatory scrutiny on plan design and fee disclosure, and more. He also evaluates and recommends changes to individual investments and advises clients in the areas of custody/trust service providers and transition management.
Prior to joining Summit in 2003, Paul worked at Independence Investments in Boston, where he spent five years serving as both a Client Service Associate and Investment Officer - developing the firm's award-winning Web site. He also spent several years with SG Cowen Securities within the Fundamental Research department assisting in the coverage of technology and digital media companies. Paul graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration for Northeastern University and he has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
